Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey said the Fund will offer a one-off annual grant of $20,000 or a triennial grant of $27,500 per year for three years to events that have been running for more than two years.
“Expressions of interest are now open for the 2017 Flagship Event Fund to help give local events vital funding support for marketing activities to drive overnight visitation,” Ms Pavey said.
“Regional events in the Bellingen Shire deliver important economic and community benefits to our region and showcase the unique talents of producers from food and wine growers to music and the arts.”
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the Fund is part of the Destination Network reforms to re-energise regional tourism across the State and 2017 offers more money to events than ever before.
“Regional events are critical to attracting more visitors to experiences and destinations in rural and regional areas across NSW and we encourage event operators to take advantage of this vital funding opportunity,” Mr Ayres said.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said, “Regional events have the capacity to motivate those who are considering taking a holiday to book a trip and discover what’s on offer, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to our State as a result of this wonderful Program,” Ms Chipchase said.
Expressions of Interest for the 2017 Flagship Event Fund are open until Sunday 9 October 2016 and applicants whose expressions of interest sufficiently meet the criteria will be invited to submit a full application in November.
Two additional funds in the Regional Flagship Events Program, including the Incubator Event Fund and Event Development Fund will be available later this year.
