The club celebrated a great season in its 45th year and to cap it all off they handed out the life membership award for only the 6th time in their history and it went to Matthew Baker.
Baker has been involved with the club for the past 14 years, spending nine of those seasons as the president and he has put in countless hours towards coaching, officiating, attending various meetings, liaising, reporting, negotiating with governing bodies, facilitating various activities, assisting and directing volunteers in their roles, overseeing all aspects of KSFC organisation and above all being a fabulous role model and mentor.
“It was very humbling and I am extremely proud and honoured to receive the life membership. It doesn’t happen often and I wasn’t expecting it at all,” Baker explained.
“I have lived here for my whole life and I don’t see myself ever moving away so I would love to be a part of the club in some way for a very long time.”
Baker has been president of the club for the past nine years and whilst he has a lot on his plate his main focus in the club is coaching.
He coached the women’s side to their first premiership this season and was also coaching the girls U18s team.
“A huge thanks to the club for thinking I deserved the award and I appreciate the committee, everyone I have ever worked with over the last 14 years including players, parents and everyone else I have been involved with.”
He displays a passion for football, commitment and dedication to Saints. He inspires all of us involved in the club. He is a true champion and a great leader. Which is why he is a deserved recipient of Life Membership.
He has shown constant support and dedication to his community. He takes a positive approach to promoting the sport of football to the youth of the Macleay. He has been a fantastic role model to the players and members of our club. His listening ear and let’s do it approach have benefited every individual within the Saints club. Utter devotion to the cause live and breathes the sport and the club.
