Bellingen Shire Council said that water quality testing undertaken at a number of local swimming locations show readings “are not elevated above what has been normally experienced”.

The samples were taken on January 4, 2017, before the recent rains and these results were compared to the maximum three-year readings.
“Considering the low flows in the catchments and the high visitation rates at the time of sampling it is encouraging to see that the results are not elevated above what has been normally experienced since sampling commenced in 2012,” council’s acting deputy general manager, Matt Fanning said.
“Another set of samples will be taken this week and will be results released when available.”
