Saints is extremely proud that two long standing club stalwarts have got together to lead the club in their 8th year in the top level of football in the Football Mid North Coast zone.
Baker is amongst the highest credentialed coach’s in the area and brings a professionalism to the job that has been refined over years of coaching at all levels.
He has recently stepped away from the Football Mid North Coast rep system, where he coached with and against the best players and coaches between Kempsey and Newcastle.
Baker is committed to Saints this year and the groundwork for a serious campaign is already underway.
Baker’s recent success at coaching came last season when he coached the Kempsey Saints women’s side to their and the clubs first premiership success at a first grade level.
The Saints women’s side overcame the odds of facing an undefeated side in the grand final and earned the convincing 4-1 victory against the Port United Strikers.
Baker finished off 2016 by becoming the seventh life member of the Saints club.
Jason Fisher was instrumental in guiding Saints into Premier League, and now has the experience of having played or coached in every year Saints has been involved in Senior Football.
Fisher brings an understanding of the competition that will be instrumental as the season unfolds.
Pre-season training is already underway and players who want to play for Saints at any senior level this year are invited to Eden St on Tuesday and Thursdays at 6pm.
Registration for all junior and senior players will be at the West Kempsey Hotel on Wednesday 8th and 15th Feb 4pm to 6pm; Saturday 11th and 18th Feb 11am to 1pm.
The ever popular 5s/6s clinic, run by Jason, Ethan and Dane Fisher, is on again this year. It is for all new players to come and try the game before registration.
It will be at Sea St oval (behind St Josephs Primary School) on Wednesday 8th; 15th and 22nd Feb 3.30pm to 4.30pm. All new players welcome and the clinic is free.
The Saints are the largest club in the Macleay Valley with 396 registered players last season and are the 4th largest football club in the Football Mid North Coast competition.
They are hoping to increase those numbers further this season and have similar success on the field to their 2016 campaign.
Along with winning the women’s grand final, the Saints had four other senior teams compete in the Football Mid North Coast semi-finals.
They will be searching for more grand final appearances at the end of 2017.
