However, that quickly changed when their young player Jackson Korn was able to step up to the moment and lead his side to victory.
Korn ticked over the three figures on the scoreboard for the first time in the first grade competition, on his way to giving Rovers a 36-run lead at the conclusion of the first innings.
Kempsey Heights declared after scoring a quickfire 200 runs off just 22 overs, in an attempted to salvage the match.
The decision came back to haunt Kempsey heights though, as Dowling scored the second century of the match for Rovers, which led the side to an outright victory.
“We went to the crease in the second innings with the plan to just knock it around and prevent a loss, but after a while I realised the outright victory was up for grabs,” Dowling explained.
