For country music star Troy Cassar-Daley, performing at pubs and clubs on the Mid North Coast is a homecoming of sorts.

“I love it down here,” Troy told the Argus on Tuesday as he visited South West Rocks.
“In my formative years it was the support of the north and Mid North Coast that got us our start.”
Troy will perform at the South West Rocks Country Club on February 17 as part of his Things I Carry Around album tour.
He’ll be ably supported by a band including Kempsey guitarist Chris Haigh.
Once again he’ll pack the fishing rod, hopeful of fitting in a quick fish between shows.
In previous years, before the tour buses got too packed, he’d cram the surfboard in too.
“I never deny myself that,” he said of having a fish or a surf while on tour.
“It’s a wonderful way to breathe in the local area.”
Troy is full of praise for the Macleay Valley, having played in many of the region’s venues numerous times over the years.
His thankful for the support shown across the Macleay and the wider north coast during his career’s infancy.
“The people on the coast championed our cause and gave us a break,” he said.
He’s confident that the laid-back nature of the show (the stage’s set up includes a couch) will appeal to fans.
The intimate setting will also give Troy an opportunity to share a few yarns from his formative years, including some tales of wild nights at some of the Macleay’s hotels.
After more than 20 years performing on the road, including his recent success at the Tamworth Country Music Festival where he was inducted onto the roll of renown and awarded album of the year, Troy said the enjoyment gained from playing music for a living hadn’t worn off.
However, Troy said he looked forward to a substantial break after this tour and a chance to spend some much-needed time with family. According to Troy, it’s all the more reason to throw himself into his next few shows.
“It should be good, I’m looking forward to it.”
