It is easy to write letters to the paper that knock council and councillors – or in fact anyone getting out there and doing something.

It's much harder being one of the ones who actually stand up for their beliefs, be that circuses with animals in Coffs or standing for a green agenda.
We are all entitled to our opinions but I cannot see what good it does our town to see letters (Darcey, yes, mainly from your good self) every week attacking council and what feels like anyone associated with it.
Just last week claims included the line that “The Greens’ philosophy is that making money is a crime”.
Why include such mistruths?
Why the constant attacks?
Why not instead acknowledgement of the outreach that our local Greens’ councillors have been involved in, meeting community, asking questions and working themselves into the ground to do the best they can for this Shire?
There is no need to agree with the politics, but at least some acknowledgement of what is actually happening, and the surely reasonable expectation that we are honest with our words.
We all live here, we are good people, and many are working hard to make this Shire live up to its best potential.
So could I suggest some acknowledgement of that work, and perhaps even a celebration of what we are, and what we are achieving would leave the reader, and likely the writer, feeling a little more optimistic.
Like our town, we are better than this.
