If you were hoping for the rain to stop. Forget it.
The Shire looks set for a little more rain as a moist onshore wind continues to drive many of the showers onto our coastline. But in some good news, the forecast does include some sunny spells.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Sunday’s weather pattern is similar to today (Saturday) but with more rain forecast.
From Monday the weather – and that means rain – looks like it will hang around for at least the next five or seven days.
The drizzle follows last week’s flood, where falls of near 500ml were recorded in Dorrigo. As a result of that weather event, Bellingen’s Monthly Markets were postponed (and then cancelled this weekend) as well as all sports throughout the Valley.
Bellingen Shire Council said the damage bill for the heavy rain would be in the vicinity of half to a million dollars and this was enough to trigger an application to the state government for flood damage assistance.
