This is a great initiative which gives exposure to local artists and supports the creative industries. The gallery is open between 10am and 4pm Tuesdays to Sundays until the end of April and I encourage everyone to drop by and check it out.
Council recently called for Expressions of Interest to provide visitor information services and other related tourism services at the current Urunga’s Visitor Information Centre.
In the coming weeks council will be interviewing prospective businesses to identify the best fit for the space. A major placemaking project will be undertaken in Urunga in the coming months.
Council will be undertaking an extensive community engagement process to seek ideas and input from the community.
Please keep an eye on council’s ‘Create’ platform for updates on this initiative at http://create.bellingen.nsw.gov.au.
Shire Creative Placemaking
Council is partnering with our community to stimulate and revitalise local streets, neighbourhoods and public spaces through a series of placemaking projects.
The initiative aims to inspire individuals and not for profit organisations to participate in transforming public spaces into bright animated places and build on the Shire’s reputation as a culturally rich community.
This could include murals, mosaics, street art, street performance, pop up shops.
Funding for Round 1 of the project will be $5000 which can be spread over several projects. Contact council’s 6655 7300 for further information. Finally thank you to all the emergency services and council staff who worked tirelessly throughout the recent flood event to keep residents and infrastructure safe, maintain communications and undertake the inevitable cleanup works – well done everyone.
