ALTHOUGH very damp and even soggy in places, the players at The Island Golf Club managed to complete some rounds in the past week.

On Saturday 83 players turned out in the stableford event with the results going to Tim Standing (8 handicap), 36 points, to take out A grade. Tim is comparatively new to the club after a six-year lay-off and it is expected that he will soon be back to his old handicap of six. In the runners-up position was Eddy Penrose (9), 35 points, a noted mud runner.
For B grade Dennis Ashton (17) came up with a round of 40 points to be the winner from Dirk Prummel (14) 39 points - Dirk finding some good form after completing the building a new home.
Winner in C grade was Dave Wilson (20) 35 points from Mark Blake (24) who had a round of 33 points. Balls for the rundown went to 31 with all players on 31 to receive.
Nearest the pins went to Dirk Prummel the 3rd, Andrew Bagust 5th, Peter Bush 7th, John Nebauer 8th, David Bird the pizza hole, and Dennis Ashton at 15 with Peter Fredricks taking home the money shot.
Problems with the golf link website didn't allow the club to process the competition for handicapping. In the meantime use the old time sheet to book.
Thursday’s round attracted only 62 players for the stableford round with Peter Creenaune (7), (Sawtell), 37 points saluting. Taking out second was Drew Glasson (8), with 36 points.
For division 2 Lee Fewings (27) showed his true potential and carded a round of 35 to get the main voucher from Andrew Donavan (26). Andrew had his moment in the sun with 34 points to get the voucher in a countback from Kevin Mulhall.
Ball rundown went to 32 with five players to receive and they are Steve Doherty, Alan Cockburn Geoff Rees, Stu Johnston and Peter Farrell. Collecting other rewards Peter Farrell took out the money shot along with the pizza hole and nearest the pin on the 8th. Other nearest the pins went to Trevor Wilson (Scone), Dirk Prummel and Peter Creenaune, with nobody taking out Stu’s ball at 15.
This Saturday is the monthly medal round and the following day will be the Island Sunday a mixed 4BBB.
