Eight-year-old Finn swam against 39 boys and achieved a personal best (PB) time in his 50m freestyle of 35.10 seconds, ensuring him a place in the nine-years-of-age boys final. The final saw Finn place ninth with another PB of 35.09.
As Finn was the fastest boy from the North Coast, he was chosen to swim in the all-age relay. The relay team placed sixth out of 13.
Finn also qualified for the junior individual medley (8-10 years) and came 26th out of 39, quite a big feat as most qualifiers are turning, or have turned, 10 this year.
Finn has had wonderful support from his coach Eugene Brogmus at the Coffs Aquatic Centre and the Bellingen Public School.
This season has certainly been a wonderful one. He was age champion at Bellingen Public School, Coffs Harbour Swim Club and also Sawtell SLSC.
Finn represented Sawtell SLSC at Country and State SLS titles. He came second in the ocean swim, first in the Buchanan relay, first in the swim relay and third in the board relay at Country Titles at South West Rocks in February. At the State titles at Swansea/Belmont in March, he came seventh in the ocean swim and fourth in the board relay.
