Mary and Geoff Rees, playing alongside last year’s winners, produced a score of 43 points to win. Runners-up were Linnie and Joe Street with a score of 40 with a better countback than Linda Fuller and Paul McElhinney.
Nearest the pins went the way of Maxine Townsend, Glenys Thompson, Russel Grunsell, and Dennis Starr.Collecting in the ball rundown were Linda Fuller and Paul McElhinney, Maxine Townsend and Dennis Starr, Henny Oldenhoe and Garny O’Brien and Donna and Col Easey.
Saturday saw a field of 100 tee off in fine conditions and a dry track for a change. Tim Standing (7 handicap) made the best of things in A grade to get the countback from Dirk Prummel (12) after they both finished with 37 points. For B grade Joe Street (18) found some form to post a round of 41 points, the very same score as Rob Coneybeare (17) who has also been out of form of late.
Coming up trumps in C grade Adrian Bow (32) from Hadden Vale carded a round of 39 with the runner-up voucher going to Roger Bale (20) 36 points from Ronny Cook who got pipped in the countback. Other good scores came from Dave Mattacott, Allen Cockburn, and Peter Miller all 37 points. Glen Crow, David Bird, Bruce Berry, Peter Fredricks, Peter Bush, Michael Bennett and Les Mohr carded 35.
Ball rundown went to 32 with just Ben Carden from Balgowlah to claim. Nearest the pins went to Bruce Berry at 3, Greg Smith at 5, Les Mohr at 7, Rob Coneybeare at 8, Joe Street won the pizza at 13, Mike Bennett won Stu’s ball at 15 and Glen Crow picked up a healthy money shot at 18.
Thursday’s round saw 64 hit off in fine conditions and coming home in front of the pack in division 1 was Michael Nugent (18), getting the better of the countback of Geoff McCann (17), both with 37 points. Once again division 2 was won by Richard Trevena (20) with a 38 point round. Runner-up for the division was Walter Bortelotto (24) with a card of 37 points. Play of the day must go to Dirk Prummel with an eagle on the difficult par four 17th.
Balls in the rundown went to 33 with just the two to collect – David Bird and ‘Lucky’ Lee Fewings.
This Saturday will be a two person ambrose.
