A lone bagpiper called the 100 strong community together as the mist rose above the beautiful Bellinger River in front of the memorial.
The reading a descriptive “Letter From The Trenches from Private “Alf” Maitland whose name appears on the honour roll, provided by his grandson Ian Speechley along with other precious memorabilia.
The address again echoed the history of ANZAC, other conflicts Australians have been involved in and the importance of keeping the ANZAC tradition alive.
A very competent young bugler sounded the Last Post and Reveille as dawn broke.
Modern music pieces played for the community to reflect upon the meaning of ANZAC at various times during the service.
Finally we were reminded that of two of our own community are currently serving overseas and wished them well.
Such a generous show of respect for such a little community.
