This NSW Veterans Golf Association Men’s Shield winner was Ross Jones (Waratah) with 70 points and Tom Clifford (Kew) was runner up with 69 points. The shield for the ladies was won by Helen Venner (Tanilba Bay) with 69 on countback from Helen Martin (Catalina).
The 36-hole scratch men’s event was won by William Micallef (Morrisett) with 51 and Ash Rennie (Beverly Park) was runner-up on 50. The ladies 36-hole scratch was won by Sheena Gunn (Port Macquarie) on 35 with Di Wolfe runner up with 30.
The opening event on Monday was an Irish Fourball which was won by Danny and Di Wolfe (Thurgoona) and Laurie and Helen Wynn (Catalina) with 82 points on a countback from George and Helen Gauchi (Beverly Park) and Ash and Barbara Rennie (Beverly Park).
Tuesday’s event was the first round of the NSWVGA Shield. In the men’s division, the A grade winner was Rad Vasic (Port Kembla) with 37 points, Garry Luland (Parkwood) was runner-up with 36 points. Les Matheson won the B Grade with 33 points on countback from Garry Stafford (Heidleberg). C Grade was won by Geoff Lee (Pacific Dunes) with 33 points on countback from Robert Coleman (Healesville).
In the ladies division, Marilyn Wynn (Catalina) won the A Grade with 33 points from Vicki Atkins (Wyong) with 32 points. B Grade winner was Britta Lamborn (Wakehurst) with 28 points on countback from Dianne Voss (Everglades). Barbara Rennie (Beverly Park) was winner of C Grade with 29 points from Dawn Moylan (Harrington Waters) on 28 points.
Wednesday was a ‘rest day’ with most visitors opting for a ‘tag-a-long’ tour to the Buffalo Farm and Café at Eungai Creek, some others enjoyed a morning cruise on the Nambucca River.
Thursday’s event was the second round of the NSWVGA Shield. In the Men’s Division, the A grade winner was Jim Forrester (Shelly Beach) with 34 points. Trevor Topp (Richmond) was runner-up with 33 points. Danny Wolfe (Thurgoona) won the B Grade with 36 from Rodney Williams (Cessnock) with 33 points. C Grade was won by Vince Barbat (Shelly Beach) with 33 points on countback from Lewis Whitehead (Rich River).
In the ladies division, Lee Daley (Yamba) won the A Grade with 31 points from Lesley Wells (Everglades) with 29 points. B Grade winner was Judy Jordan (Richmond) with 31 points from Carolyn Hearn (Harrington Waters) with 30 points. Gail Jameson (Royal Canberra) was winner of C Grade with 28 points from Carol Whitehead (Rich River) on 27 points.
The closing event for the week was a Medley 4BBB Stableford. Winners with an unbeatable score of 49 points were Stephen and Helen Venner (Tanilba Bay) and runners-up were James Forrester (Shelly Beach) and Ian Ireland (Woolooware) with 46 points.
