Nambucca knew they were good enough, and they wanted to show it.
Again Nambucca started the brighter and had Woopi on the back foot from the start as they dispossessed and upset the Woopi attacks and the Strikers worked the ball well out of the defence.
On a rare raid on the Nambucca goal, young keeper Corey Forbes made an innoccuous challege that saw him break his arm, and give away a penalty, as well as cop a yellow card (triple whammy). On the other hand, he saved the ensuing dotty as he chased it outside the post.
Nil-all at the break, with Nambucca on the ascent.
In the second half it was entertaining football from end to end. Young Ethan Hocking stepped up yet again to put on the gloves for the injured keeper. But a Woopi corner wasn’t dealt with by the Nambucca defence, and they went ahead about 15 minutes in.
The Strikers fought hard to regain composure and get back possession, and in the last 20 Nambucca had their opportunities but just couldn’t get that elusive touch.
Nambucca is still a chance for the finals, away this week at Korora.
