The DLCA is a winter program aimed at talented players with an emphasis on the skills of cricket as well as game sense. The monthly Academy training days allow junior players the chance to access specialist coaching for throwing technique, video analysis for bowling and batting technique and personal training for strength and conditioning.
The Academy belief that cricket is best learnt while playing is promoted with the organisation of intra-council games against the Mid North Coast and Far NorthCoast.
Taylor and Lincoln played their first intra-council game last Sunday against the Mid North Coast at the Welsh-Donnelly playing fields in Macksville. Both played a sound first game with Lincoln open bowling for the North Coast and, as wicket keeper, effecting a run out and taking a catch.
Taylor was appointed captain for the day and batted in the number 3 position for the North Coast making 26 runs in a solid batting performance.
Both boys will continue their Academy participation until early October before returning to local cricket with the Dorrigo Junior Cricket Club.
