The branch held its Annual General Meeting last week, with special guests including Mid North Coast Local Health District Chief Executive Stewart Dowrick, Kempsey District Hospital’s Acting Director of Nursing Mary MacNamara, Deputy Director of Nursing Michael Fowler, and the UHA’s North Eastern Regional Representative, Dee Hunter.
The volunteers raised a remarkable $16,343 during the past financial year, and are now looking forward to purchasing equipment from the hospital’s wish list.
Mr Dowrick thanked them for their hard work, not only during the past year but over many decades in support of the hospital and its patients.
“We greatly appreciate your support, the hospital equipment you donate and the 8300- plus voluntary hours you gave in support of our patients and staff last year,” Mr Dowrick said.
“Your kindness and compassion are on show every day, so on behalf of the District, thank you.”
Joining Mrs Lewthwaite on the executive committee are Vice-president Pat Major, 2nd Vice-president Denise Kelly, Secretary Helen Counihan, Treasurer Ruth Woodward and Betty Green continues as branch patron.
Also celebrated at the AGM was Helen Counihan’s 20th year as a UHA member.
The branch’s next fundraiser will be a Father’s Day street stall at the Polwood Street entrance to the hospital on Wednesday, August 30. Community donations for the stall can be left at the hospital’s front office.
