The Kempsey Saints White opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the match through Kaylina Hoskins and coach Abigael Baker believes it put them in a good position for the rest of the match.
“We were on the front foot after grabbing that goal and we held onto that for the rest of the match,” Baker said.
The White side absorbed pressure from Green and they caught a break off of a corner.
A deflection off of a Green player resulted in the ball finding the back of their own net and the White side’s lead extending to 2-0.
Green continued to fight their way back into the match and they were rewarded with their persistence with a goal before half-time.
White came out in the second half stronger and Hayley Keshy reinstated their two-goal advantage after strong build up play from Antwinette Dunn.
The win for the White team advances them into the grand final while the Green team will face off with Wauchope Waratahs at Eden St on Saturday.
Saints White will be there to cheer on the girls with the Kempsey Saints Football Club hoping for an all Saints women’s grand final on Saturday September 9.
