Top of the list in the twoball was Roy Louis and Colin Dunne with a round of 45 points. Next pairing in for the second time in a week was Geoff McCann and Dave Mattacott with 44 points after a countback with Chris Tinson and Trevor Hopkins.
Others to show out were Les Mohr and Paul Maxwell 43 points, along with Andrew Bagust and Kerry McCoy, John Nebauer and Dave Wilson, Robert and Mark Coony and a visiting couple from Tocumwal, Sheree and Steve Geall. Sheree was feeling a little let down as she was nearest the pin on the money shot but husband Steve ran out of change so didn’t enter, so as a result Sheree picked up a ball.
Making up for his mistake, Steve took out the single stableford event with a round of 38 points, followed by Robert Coony with a round of 37 to pick up his first voucher since taking on the game.
Ball rundown in the twoball went to 41 c/b and they included John Patterson and Michael Lee, Steve Frost and Col Wormleaton, and with Bruce Berry and Peter Farrell.
Nearest the pins went to Stu Johnston, Phil Mander, Chris Tinson, Eddy Penrose, while Don Atkinson took out the Pizza This a Pizza That hole. Col Wormleaton won Stu’s ball at 15 and Paul McElinney took out a well earned money shot.
Thursday’s round was full of controversy after the scorers brought to the attention of the captain that he required two signings on each card as in the accumulator both players score are recorded on a single card. This was left to the captain to agree to, so almost half the field was disqualified. Most knew the rule but had ignored the process needed in signing score cards in golf.
After this settled down the computer decided it didn’t want to play the game and had a malfunction just to make the round more interesting.
In the end, Greg Smith and Chris Thorndike took out first place with 73 points, and they were followed in by Dave Mattacott and Geoff McCann with 70 points. Ball run down went to 57 with the Coonys again featuring, this time Lillian and Mark.
Nearest the pins for the round went to Bernard Dugdale at the 5th and 7th, Paul Ryan, Harry Parnell, the pizza hole went to Scott Burley and Peter Farrell took out the money shot on 18.
