While millions of Florida residents were evacuating, Mr Bradley was steering his 90-foot yacht from the Bahamas towards Palm Beach County in Flordia in the hope of escaping Hurricane Irma, a storm which was once registered as category five.
Mr Bradley arrived safely and battened down the hatches at the Palm Beach Sailing Club and rode out the storm.
He notified his wife, who was in Kempsey during the storm, of his safety on Monday US time.
More than 6.4 million people were notified to evacuate from Florida prior to the storm.
The storm was registered as a category four when it hit the shores but it was downgraded to a tropical storm and it wasn’t as powerful as first feared.
