Kiewa Valley Camp Oven Cook Off wants teams for the second annual competition at Tangambalanga on October 15.
Hosted by CWA Kiewa Tangambalanga, Kiewa Valley Camp Oven Cook Off allows teams of up to four to make two courses to be judged by the people.
Co-organiser Linda Hamilton said while six teams vied for the Best Main, Best Dessert and Overall Champion titles last year, seven teams had already entered in the competition this year.
She said there was a trophy and cash prizes for the best teams.
“The teams give us a list of ingredients to cook two courses,” Ms Hamilton said.
“We provide the ingredients but the teams need to cook enough so everybody there gets one tablespoon of food from each dish.
“The cooking is all done from scratch; Gravox is not allowed!”
Patrons who buy a meal ticket will be issued with plates, cutlery, napkin and a voting slip to judge the camp oven offerings.
The winning main last year was a sticky pork dish while the dessert featured toffee.
Co-organiser Kate Haeusler said more than 200 people had enjoyed the first event last year.
She said a bigger venue this year allowed them to expand the format with a billy-boiling competition, The Great Aussie Thong Toss, Chrome Bumper Show ‘n’ Shine and CWA high tea.
“We wanted an event that would become synonymous with our town,” she said.
Kiewa Valley Camp Oven Cook Off will be held at Coulston Park, 29 Kiewa East Road, Tangambalanga, from 10am to 5pm.
