$10 million is available in the second round of funding for successful applicants who best demonstrate how they can implement their idea that focus on prevention, early intervention or crisis response to domestic and family violence.
Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Pru Goward said that the projects would collectively contribute to tackling domestic and family violence in NSW.
“NSW was the first jurisdiction in Australia to launch an innovation fund solely dedicated to primary prevention, early intervention and crisis responses that supports the efforts of specialist domestic and family violence services,” Ms Goward said.
A range of successful projects from the first round, announced in June this year, are already underway including:
· weekly Toolbox Talks for mining and construction workers
· Leaving Prison/Leaving Violence, which supports women leaving prison to not return to violent situations
· the Kalypi Paaka Mirika Healing Program, which equips Aboriginal people to recognise behaviours that lead to violence.
NSW leads the nation in specialist domestic and family violence initiatives, with more than $350 million over four years to provide greater protection for women, children and men. The Innovation Fund is part of the NSW Domestic and Family Violence Blueprint for Reform 2016-2021: Safer Lives for Women, Men and Children.
EOI workshops will be held in Parramatta on October 9 and in the Sydney CBD on October 13 to assist applicants with their proposal before the EOI closes on Friday 20 October.
