About 4.30am on Saturday 28 October 2017, emergency services were called to the Dennis Bridge on the Pacific Highway at Port Macquarie after reports of a crash involving three vehicles.
Police were told a white Toyota Hilux utility travelling south on the highway crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and crashed into two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Toyota, a 23-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Port Macquarie District Hospital where he died.
The drivers from the other two vehicles were not injured and were conveyed to Port Macquarie District Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. A total of four patients were treated and discharged from hospital following the crash.
