It was a joyous, relaxed, friendly and inter-generational occasion, a meeting which showcased the diversity, tolerance and generosity of spirit of our wonderful shire. It was everything we had hoped for and more.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and those unable to attend who sent their best wishes and support from near and far.
Thank you to Aunty Rae for your Welcome to Gumbaynggirr Country, and to Mayor Dominic King, Councillor Jennie Fenton and Councillor Desmae Harrison for their support.
Thank you to Chris Marks, our energetic MC! Thank you to the musicians, Joe Newton, Bobbi Coulton, Hannah Harlen and Brenda Freestone, and the technicians, the Molly Me Coffee cart, the face-painters (and all those who paid it forward so everyone could join in), Sally and the circus crew, the bakers, the badge-makers and wearers, the bike decorators and riders, the many, many rainbow chalk artists.
Thank you to all who spoke, sharing history, stories and hope. Thank you to our local businesses, Bellingen Sweet Shop, the Gelato Bar, Kombu, Outpost Hair, Weave and Dee’s Metaphysical Readings, Healings and Massage for their generous donations.
Finally thank you to the volunteer committee who organised this event. Bellingen Shire will benefit from the significant community relationships which were forged through this event and can look forward to seeing the seeds sown with this first Love is Love celebration flourish and grow.
