For Paul McNamara it was simply a matter of continuing his recent form and his 33-point round that topped the A-grade echelon was certainly, for him, nothing out of the ordinary.
But for B-grade lesserlight Peter Campling it was something right out of the box (so to speak) and his round worthy of 33 points truly indicates a remarkably successful comeback.
We all know that this Cooperabung identity was forced out of the game due to a serious hand/wrist injury and it is obvious that all's now well after that operation.
Yes, Peter and Paul - they're famous names of old, eh - were the leading lights of Tuesday's 40-strong field who battled a strong all-day southerly-bu(r)ster.
Whilst 33 points for 14 holes is, really, something out of the ordinary, so, too, was the fact that one had to better par to figure in the ball competition rider (so to speak).
Graham Hall's 32 points was only worthy of a new Srixon, as it was for Alan Macdonald, Chris Hudson and Terry Smith for their 31's and likewise for Hillary Dew and Phil Pinney on 30.
Then there were nine (so to speak) figuring on 29, namely Robert Dykes, Max Gleeson, Ron Ingall, Johnny King, Bob Mavin, Bill Paterson, John Terlich, Jack Tolman and Todd Watts.
Nearest the pins at the third hole went to Dew (A) and Tolman (B), whilst Terlich (A) featured at the 11th hole.
Chip-ins were performed by Graheme Martin, Terry Hyland, Neil Dodds and Paterson.
Now, today is of course Melbourne Cup Day and the president in his usual informative address assured members that sweeps on the big race will be conducted.
"Chris [Hudson] is the man to see if you want to be in it," he said.
Captain Robert (Dykes) reminded all of the November Kempsey Heights Bowling Club Monthly Medal Stroke being played today.
And it is the final chance fellows to qualify for the prestigious Gold Medal Stroke come the first Tuesday of December.
Despite it being sort of a serious event all or any visitors are invited to take part and all the right information can be obtained via a phone call to 65626291.
Tee off will be at its usual time.
