Just after 6am on Wednesday November 15, emergency services were called to Waterfall Way 3km west of Bellingen, near Hennesseys Lane, following reports a car had crashed and flipped on its roof.
It appears that the car, a white Toyota Corolla, was travelling west towards Thora when it veered off the road just after Hennesseys Lane, clipping a large tree on the right hand side and leaving a portion of its hub cap in the bark.
It then crashed through a wire fence and travelled about 50m through a paddock, coming to rest upside down.
The driver died at the scene.
Police attached to Coffs Clarence Local Area Command established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
