Local coffee connoisseurs in Grassy Head have been crowned winners of the largest coffee roasting competition in the world.
The Painted Blue Coffee Roasters from Grassy Head, a new Macleay Valley business which opened just a month ago, won bronze at the Golden Bean Coffee Roasters Competition held in Port Macquarie last weekend.
The competition has been running for more than 10 years and shines a light on Australia’s best coffee roasting businesses with entrants from right across Australia and New Zealand.
The team at Painted Blue took home the bronze prize for their Organic Espresso beans and Chanchamayo beans.
Painted Blue is inspired by the glorious blue skies and sparkling, clear waters of the Mid North Coast.
Behind it's doors are two people who love amazing coffee. Charelle, an environmental scientist and Dan, an electrical engineer who enjoy roasting with precision and passion whist living the dream at Grassy Head.
"Painted Blue began as we appreciate the value and necessity of having great coffee available anytime. After desperate searches for delicious coffee whilst working in far remote places over the globe, deprived of it in some cases, we believe in making an excellent product locally and accessible. Our aim is to provide customers with a specialty coffee option that they can brew and enjoy daily in their home and/or office."
There are a few tips in creating great coffee, with a little knowledge it should be as simple as adding coffee and water, with the use of some specifically designed equipment. The equipment doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. Freshly roasted beans will have you well on you way to a great brew. Painted Blue Coffee Roasters have the award winning beans to get you started. Guidance on popular brew equipment and tips on how to brew like a pro is available on their website. Need further information, just ask the team.
