A FULL round of the Nambucca Valley Cricket Association club competition at the weekend saw Macksville Country Club square off against Star Hotel at Thistle Park Turf.

Star Hotel won and toss and batted first. A steady start saw them reach 1/60 at drinks and after the break they increased the run rate to around seven an over for the final 19 overs to reach the imposing total of 7/195.
Joe Costa with 82 in his first game for the season, James Brodie 32 and a quick fire 24 from Nigel Wilbow were the best with the bat. Damien ‘Strawb’ Frost got pounded early on in his spell before returning figures of 4/44 for Country Club.
In reply, Country Club were all out for 105. Matt Leibrant 24 not out, D Budden 18 and Chris Budden 17 were top scorers. For Star Hotel Darrell ‘Disco’ Welsh tore the Country Club top order apart, taking 5/25 off his eight overs. He was well supported by Joe Costa 2/24 and Nick Willer 2/11. Star Hotel won by 90 runs.
Peter Lee reports – Nambucca Heads travelled to Scotts Head for their clash on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Scotts Head won the toss and put Nambucca into bat with Heads posting a total of 155.
Nambucca's best batters were Jacob Welsh 32, Tim Moon 25 not out and Sam Russo 26 not out. Best of the bowlers for Scotts were A Bennett 3/27 and Joe Borg 2/28.
Scotts Head started well and were 2/60 with A Bennett 31 and M Gleeson 14, but a bowling change brought on Harrison Lee and his first ball got a wicket. Scotts Head then lost eight wickets for 27 with Harrison finishing with 3/4 off four overs, Karl Gadsden 2/13 and Tim Moon 2/9 off eight overs. Scotts Head were all out for 87.
A great game and great spirit by both clubs. Nambucca Heads won by 68 runs.
