Fiona McArthur, well-known Macleay Valley author, will launch the anthology titled ‘Hot Rocks: Stories of Water and Desire’, on Saturday 16 December at 3 pm.
‘Hot Rocks’ is the second anthology published by the group, the first being ‘Tales from the Rocks’ (2012).
The anthology includes stories and verse from many genres: fantasy, memoir, non-fiction, science fiction and fiction.
“There is passion, violence, romance, sadness, laughter – and some very strange happenings! The contributions are influenced by the over-arching themes of ‘water’ and ‘desire’,” a statement from the group said.
All the group’s writers are represented in the anthology and it is expected that some short readings will take place at the launch.
“Production of the book has taken many months of gathering the contributions, planning, editing, proofreading and arranging publication. The group is proud of the final product and especially pleased with the fabulous cover. This will be the first time some members have been published, so it is an especially exciting time for them,” the statement said.
The publication of the anthology was the idea of Desley Polmear, a former long-standing member of the group. The group has been meeting and writing for approximately 21 years. The group consists of published and aspiring authors and those who just enjoy writing.
