With “love is love” going off the boil the music kicks in, and boy do we have music, an incredible performance laid on by mother nature. A cicada year, which occurs every 7 to 10 years from memory. Billions of the little buggers serenading and singing their little hearts out. The life cycle of a cicada must surely be one of nature’s wonders.

Also a special thanks to John Lean for his incredible effort over many years documenting who all our early settlers were and where they set up residence. But for myself I just can't come to grips with how they did it. A family with the most basic tools, to carve out an existence in the wilderness. Clear 200 acres of virgin forest, establish a farm, a livelihood, build a house raise a family. No Centrelink. A forgotten and sadly often unappreciated generation, where today so many owe those few a huge debt for so much we take for granted.
Finally a few questions. Will due to restricted vision and safety reasons council impose a 20km speed limit in Hyde Street, will a ferry service be provided during heavy downpours, will a special rate increase be applied to pay for the garden upkeep, and finally will there be a backflip on the 8 tonne load limit on the Plains bridge. One week, 27 tonnes without a ripple, next week council’s tractor and slasher barred from crossing. Understandably residents are confused.
