Levi Langham has been presented the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club’s 2017 Sportsperson of the Year award for his sporting achievements last October.

The 14-year-old claimed three world titles at the International Sports Karate Association (ISKA) World Cup, fending off the best competitors from across the globe.
Levi won the Clash Sparring, Sword Combat and Wrestling events while he finished in second place in the Continuous Sparring and fourth in Point Sparring in the Under 13 years boys Advanced Black Belts division.
The Year 9 St Paul’s College student has also excelled in the boxing ring last year.
Levi became the Australian Schoolboys Golden Gloves Champion in the Under 15, 52kg Division before his 14th birthday and he will remain eligible for the same event this year.
Levi continued to make a name for himself as an amateur boxer, winning the Northern Beaches belt in Sydney in December.
It’s a long list of accolades for the aspiring professional boxer and Levi has returned to training to continue his momentum into 2018.
The Kempsey Macleay RSL Club presented Levi with a $500 voucher to spend at their restaurant.
The Kempsey Macleay RSL Club and the Macleay Argus are proud to announce the monthly and yearly recognition of the Macleay Valley’s athletes will continue for another 12 months.
“The Macleay Valley is home to hundreds of elite athletes of all ages,” Kempsey Macleay RSL Club’s CEO Daniel Abela said.
“We want to support them on their journey and give them the recognition they deserve.
“The 10 recipients since the monthly award began in March have all been well deserved winners and I wish them the best in their future sporting endeavours.
“We are all looking forward to the next 12 months and presenting the award to the future winners.”

Applications are now open for the sportsperson of the month for January 2018.
To submit a nomination, simply email callum.mcgregor@fairfaxmedia.com an explanation of the person’s sporting achievements during the month of January.
Applications close for the January 2018 winner on February 1.
A winner will be chosen by a panel of judges.
