And then, just before midnight, anticipation built for the final piece of the much-anticipated triple lunar treat – a total lunar eclipse.
This lunar trifecta saw three separate celestial events - a supermoon, a blue moon and a full lunar eclipse - occur simultaneously.
The eclipse started around 11.50 with totality at around 12.30am.
As it turned out, it was Stargazers in Western Australia, who had the best views in the country
