As a result, two of the club’s athletes have already qualified for the State Championships which will be held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on Friday to Sunday, March 23-25.
They are Jarno Dolezal in the 200m and Charlotte Cooper in discus. Jarno also won a bronze medal in the 100m at Tamworth.
Results:
Emily Blanch won two bronze medals – in shot put and 3000m and Emily also came 4th in the 1500m, discus and 800m and 6th in javelin.
Jake Blanch – 5th in Javelin, 6th in 1500m and 7th in discus and shot put.
Celeste Cameron – 5th in high jump, 7th in 80m hurdles, 8th in discus and shot put and 11th in long jump.
Chantel Cameron – 6th in discus, 8th in javelin, and 9th in shot put.
Charlotte Cooper – 2nd in discus, 4th in shot put and 5th in javelin.
Aleesha Davis – 5th in 400m, 8th in shot put, 10th in triple jump, 11th in javelin and 12th in 200m.
Jessica Davis – 4th in shot put, 5th in discus, 7th in triple jump, 7th in 100m, and 8th in javelin.
Jarno Dolezal – 2nd in 200m, and 3rd in 100m.
Damian Kennedy – 7th in javelin, 8th in 60m hurdles and 10th in long jump.
Carson Hudson unfortunately broke his arm before the Tamworth competition and was not able to compete.
The club wishes to thank Ritchie Donovan and Charlie Templeton for supporting the athletes by being there to help out all weekend. The club greatly appreciates Ritchie’s and Charlie’s support.
All of the youngsters did well with some personal bests. Despite some carrying some injuries, all of the athletes showed persistence to finish their races.
The group was a standout on track and off – supporting one another throughout the competition.
Little Athletics is a uniquely Australian sport for children aged 5-16 years. As the name suggests, it is based upon the sport of athletics (track and field) and the events are specially modified to suit the ages and abilities of children. A wide range of running, jumping, throwing and walking events is conducted.
Little Athletics is the foundation for all sports. It offers young people activities and skills that will stand them in good stead for their sporting future.
Each year across NSW, approximately 40,000 boys and girls enjoy the activities that Little Athletics has to offer.
The track & field based competition is conducted throughout the summer sports season.
Events are conducted on a weekly basis by one of our 200 individual centres, and include:
Track
Sprints - 70m, 100m, 200m
Distance - 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3km
Hurdles - 60mh, 80mh, 90mh, 100mh, 110mh , 200mh, 300mh
Walks – 700m, 1100m, 1500m
Field
Jumps - long jump, triple jump, high jump
Throws - shot put, discus, javelin
During winter many centres operate cross country.
