THE VALLA Beach Tavern Family Fishing Club was off to not such a good start for this year with only a few heads showing themselves – may have had something to do with the long weekend.

The only weigh-ins were for the bass section and the club would like to see everyone show Dave ‘The Bass Assassin’ what it’s all about! Because once again, Dave Whalen came in winning with his five fish up to 51cm.
About time Dan beat son Luke – been a while, Dan… and only by three points.
But all is good – the club had one of its newest and youngest members, Amity Purkiss, come in and show all how to fish.
Go, Amity – nice 36cm bass – caught and landed by her two-and-a-hald-year-old self. Nice to teach the children of today how to catch and release.
The Mystery Fish was whiting, which jackpots to $40 and, thank you ‘Tim the Bream’ – because of your absence, we now have a $40 members’ draw happening this month.
So for this month, the club is having its fishing comp this month this weekend (Friday through to Sunday) and the target species will be flathead.
The club is thankful to Drew Walker Plumbing for the kind sponsorship.
Weigh-in will be from midday to 1pm with a barbecue and a lot of fun to follow.
The club will also be drawing the winner of the raffle for the two kids kayaks, so be in it to win it as tickets are still available at the tavern, Davis Seafoods, the Boatshed and Café and Valla Butchers.
