Now nearing completion, road resurfacing work in Elbow Street, West Kempsey was carried out on Sunday 11 March to minimise disruption to businesses and motorists as much as possible.
A second day of work is required to complete the resurfacing work on Sunday 25 March.
During these works, Elbow Street will be closed to traffic between Tozer Street and Marsh Street.
A detour is available via those streets.
Traffic control will be in place as required.
Residents or business owners within the closed area should seek advice from the traffic controllers to gain access to and from their property or business.
Work is progressing on repairing kerb and guttering, drainage, footpaths and the road pavement on Tozer Street between Elbow and Marsh streets.
On completion of this section, works will move to the southern side of Elbow Street.
Work is also planned to commence on rehabilitating Plummers Lane from Macleay Valley Way for 1.2km eastward.
The work, which is expected to commence on 19 March, involves widening, strengthening and resealing the road surface to improve safety.
Council’s Acting Manager of Engineering Works, Tony Green, said the works form part of council’s program of road maintenance and rehabilitation.
“These works will ensure safer driving conditions for motorists on these busy stretches of road,” Mr Green said.
“Council appreciates the cooperation and support of residents while the works are carried out.”
During the work traffic control will be in place and a temporary speed limit may be enforced.
