Heavy rain about the New South Wales Coast from the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands from Thursday onwards has the potential to cause local and riverine flooding.
A low pressure trough lies off the northern parts of the New South Wales coast.
The trough is directing very moist and unstable onshore winds bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms across the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands districts.
This may lead to local and riverine flooding.
A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands.
The weather system is likely to bring heavy rainfall and has the potential to cause local overland flooding as well riverine flooding from Thursday onwards.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
- Nambucca River (minor flooding)
- Coffs Coast (local flooding)
- Bellinger and Kalang Rivers (minor to moderate flooding)
- Macleay River (local flooding)
- Hastings River (minor flooding)
- Camden Haven River (local flooding)
- Manning River minor flooding
- Wallis Lake (local flooding)
- Myall River (local flooding)
- Karuah River (local flooding)
Flood Safety Advice
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
