The organisation was hoping to surpass $1 million raised since they banded together 31 years but they fell just short of the margin.
Kempsey Cancerian secretary Samathan Dyet told the Argus the night ran smoothly and everything was positive.
“The Mad Hatters Cocktail Party was a huge success,” Ms Dyet said.
“We didn’t quite hit the million dollar mark, but this fabulous community raised a massive amount of money.
“2019 is shaping up to be the $1 million event, and one you won’t want to miss.
“It still amazes me how generous our wonderful Macleay Valley is.”
The Key Raffle raised $7000, the auction raised $14,700 and the raffle raised $6000.
“We would like to thank our MC Mark Morrission and Auctioneer Ken Tassell for helping us on the night and playing vital roles in making the night a success,” Ms Dyet said.
“Thank you to our donors and major sponsors, Jabiru Printing and the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club, for without them this event wouldn’t be possible.
