The trial is a detailed investigation of pavement grinding, which has been shown to reduce road surface noise under certain conditions.
The trial will be done on two separate sections of the Pacific Highway near Valla Beach, totalling about six kilometres, and will take about 12 weeks.
Road side noise measurements and a community survey will form part of the trial.
A report will be prepared at the conclusion of the trial.
