PETA wants the venue to “take animals off the menu” for the running of kids’ show Peppa Pig’s Surprise on June 9.

After learning that Peppa Pig’s Surprise was coming to Nowra, PETA rushed a letter to the venue urging them to honour the mischievous little pig by taking animals off the menu during the run – or even better, for good.
As an added incentive, the group has offered to supply vegan ham or sausages for the opening show.
"Many of the young children who will cheer for Peppa would be horrified to learn that ham and sausages are made from pigs like her," PETA spokesperson Emily Rice said.
"Peppa shows others that she's not a piece of bacon or a ham sandwich but rather an individual with emotions and the ability to feel joy.
“What better way to honour the live show's message than by serving vegan meals?"
A letter from PETA, addressed to the venue’s food and beverage coordinator, Emelie Einarsson, suggested by switching to a meat free menu “patrons would be able to enjoy meals with a clear conscience”.
The letter went on to describe the ill treatment of pigs in commercial farm settings.
“Those on factory farms aren't given the opportunity to engage in these kinds of natural behaviour.
“Crammed into barren concrete pens, they may never see the sun or breathe fresh air.”
The letter suggested the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre could “bypass this whole ugly business simply by switching to wholesome cruelty-free products, such as Tofurky Smoked Ham Deli Slices or Jumbo Hotdogs”.
Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre manager Karen Patterson said its menu offered a mix of dietary choices.
“At the entertainment centre we always stock a variety of options to suit our patrons’ appetites, including vegetarian food,” she said.
