With the 2018 June long weekend here last Saturday there was another good field for the 2018 Chalkies 18-hole Single Stableford event which attracted visitors from Fairbain, Crescent Head, Nelson Bay, Toukley, Wyong, Belmont, Beverley Park, Emerald Lakes, Ballina, Wauchope and Balgowlah Golf Clubs. A thanks goes to the group of old school teachers known as the Chalkies who had the honours on Saturday. The day was a great success.
Taking the best on the day was Ashley Elford in the ‘B’ grade with a very good round of 40 points. Next best to Ashley was the veteran himself Paul Mcnamara who got his game together with a round of 39 points to be the runner up.
In the top grade, the winner was Peter Townsend who was out in the last group of the day for the winning score of 38 points. Taking out the runner up spot and by only one point was Brett Morrison.
David Porter from the Fairban Golf Club was the winner in the ‘C’ grade on Saturday with a very good score of 37 points, while the runner up was Murray Addison who had a score of 35 points after the morning round.
Winners of the ball competition were the players with a score of 33 points on a count back and they can be collected from the pro shop in the club anytime along with any unclaimed vouchers.
Tomorrow at the club is another big day of golf with the staging of the 2018 Macleay Valley Vet Services (Andrew Bennett) 18-hole two-person Ambrose event. All players wishing to play can book in now at the club or go online. On the scoreboard roster tomorrow will be the week three team of Peter Callaghan, Phil Starr and Paul Brose. All players are asked to carry a bucket and replace your divots due to the wet conditions and let’s keep our course in tip top condition.
On Sunday the Kempsey Golf Club Open Pennant team will be playing in the Final of the 2018 MNC Pennants. The final will be held at Nambucca Heads with a 11am starting time.
