Patrick Preston has been selected as the Kempsey Macleay RSL’s Sportsperson of the Month for his achievement in May.
The Kempsey Saints junior is in the midst of playing his first season as a goalkeeper and the 13-year-old stepped up to fill-in for an Under-14s match and excelled.
Patrick didn’t concede a goal in the contest and impressed Kempsey Saints president Matt Baker.
“He’s a short kid but he stood up tall in the game, he just flies through the air and saved everything,” Baker said.
Patrick received a $100 voucher for the RSL’s restaurant.
To be considered for the award, simply provide information on the individual’s achievement and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A sportsperson of the year will be decided upon in January 2019 with an additional voucher of $500 for the restaurant awarded to the winner.
A panel of judges from the Macleay Argus will determine the monthly and year winners of the award.
Nominations need to be submitted by the first day of the next month.
