They will however be in the main street of Nambucca Heads for their traditional show ‘n shine, on Saturday, August 4.
Organiser Donna Pell said the change of venue had required some nimble thinking but that accommodation had been found for all of the more than 500 cars (and their owners) set to roll in from Sunday, July 29.
It’s the 22nd year of the popular Spectacular with the added celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Country Buggy, the 1967 attempt to offer something that suited Australian conditions.
Originally, the idea was to make the Country Buggy an amphibious vehicle, however directives from VW Germany curtailed this vision.
The Country Buggy started production in July 1967, with exports to the Philippines (where they are known as Sakbayans), Singapore, New Zealand and some small Pacific nations.
Production ended in 1969 with only one thousand, nine-hundred fifty-six units built. Very few Country Buggies survive in the roads today, but Sakbayans are being restored in the Philippines following increasing interest in the original Volkswagen Beetle.

There will be lanterns at the night market, as well as the creation of a special VW lantern on site all week.
There will be a fireworks finale on Sunday night.
