The markets showcase local products that are made, grown or produced exclusively on the Dorrigo Plateau, and the next one is Saturday July 14 in Hickory St, Dorrigo from 9am-2pm.
Made in Dorrigo is a wonderful day out for all the family and offers a great opportunity to source unique gifts for your family and friends. Products at previous events have included clothing, goat's milk soap, native plants, woodcraft, preserves, jewellery, home baked cakes, open pollinated seeds from the local seed savers group, handmade knitwear, paper craft, art, savoury pies and pastries, screen printed T-shirts, honey, wool products, soft toys, cacti and succulents, soya wax melts, leather craft, photography, fresh produce, Dorrigo historical books, hand painted children's shoes, healthy dog treats, handicrafts and much more. A group of generous mums will be hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic in Coronation Park (big log park) from 11am to 12.30pm. Story time will be at 11.45 prior to lunch. Please bring a picnic blanket, a mug for provided soup and a plate of healthy food to share. Plus a book or toy to share/ swap or donate to charity and of course your Teddy Bear. Face painting and Sand Art plus a variety of games and activities will be happening in the park. Please register at Iris & Elm (the shop next to the Post office) by 10am July 14 for catering purposes.
The Dorrigo High school’s years 11 and 12 students will have a firewood raffle as one of several fund raising ventures which will go towards a trip to Vietnam. This educational excursion will have a strong focus on cultural immersion which has proven highly beneficial in previous years.
The Dorrigo RSL will also have a stall, fund raising for the Contemporary Veterans Homelessness and Assistance program (Homes For Heroes) and to create disabled access to the club plus a membership drive. 'Homes for Heroes' is a rehabilitation program which supports contemporary veterans of conflicts post-1991 and their families who are homeless.
A variety of food stalls and local cafes will offer plenty of choice to satisfy hungry visitors and locals. Live music will be provided by local musicians which will add great atmosphere to the day.
An array of local shops will be open for you to explore, including Red Cedar Emporium, Dorrigo Sweet Shop, What Do You Think Miss Wink, Lily & Me, Hunter Collective and Iris & Elm just to mention a few.
