The two organisations combined to offer free micro-chipping, vaccinations, flee tick and worm treatment, dog washing and de-sexing for the dogs.
The program is held for community members who have pets but can’t afford the costs associated.
“Today is an important day for people who love their pets but can’t afford things like de-sexing,” Kempsey Place Plan’s Gai Southwell said.
“The aim is to help people have healthy pets and families.”
It is the second time the two groups have joined for a Healthy Dog Day and they have treated almost 200 dogs over the two days.
“The response has been fantastic, everyone who comes through really appreciates what we are doing,” Ms Southwell said.
“A special thanks has to go to our volunteers, who donate their time and also to the Kempsey Race Club for providing us the space to work.”
The Kempsey Place Plan and Friends of Kempsey Pound are hopeful of running the Healthy Dog Day’s on a regular basis.
A Health Cat day will be held on July 24 and keep an eye on the Facebook Page ‘Show Us What You’ve Got’ for more information.
