For many, a cold water dip is a thing to be avoided at all costs, but on Saturday a crowd braved the winter waters in a communal celebration of the year’s shortest day.
With a very clear no wetsuit rule, the Winter Solstice Polar Bear Swim was held to raise money for the Boat Harbour Surf Club.
There were some interesting characters running into the ocean.
Two 50 metre courses were marked out on the day, one for waders and the other for those willing to get their hair wet.
After the fun everyone enjoyed a pot luck dinner.
