Macleay District Motorcycle Club representatives Jarryd Oram and Sam Davies claimed state titles at the NSW Senior Dirt Track State Championships at Balcaray Park Gunnedah on the weekend.

Oram was the club’s most consistent rider as he rode through very competitive heat draws in which every race could have been a final at any other meeting.
Oram came home with a win and the NSW Senior title in the Pro Open Class.
The speedstar also claimed a third place in the MX Open Class and a fourth in the Pro 450 Class.
Davies claimed his NSW Title in the Pro 250 Class.
Davies was clearly superior in the division as he claimed four firsts and one second in his five heats.
Davies also competed in the Pro Open and Pro 450 classes.
The local club had seven riders in total compete in the senior championship and junior support classes.
Macleay District Motorcycle Club members James Chapman and Alec Hurst competed in the championship classes while Mackenzie Booth, Lewis Tyne and Kristian O’Donnell made the trip over the range to compete in the support classes.
Chapman had a rough start to the meeting on Saturday with 2 accidents resulting in ‘did not finish’ and no points.
It was an uphill battle from there for Chapman, however to his credit he showed great composure to pick himself up, straighten the bikes out and push on with an attempt to salvage a result for the weekend.
This determination led to James finishing with two podiums results, a second in the Under-19’s class and third in the Pro 250 class.
In the junior support races Kristian O’Donnell achieved a first place in the 85cc Modified Class, third in the 85cc class and fourth in the 65cc class.
Mackenzie booth finished second in his 85cc age class and Lewis Tyne finished fourth in the Junior 250cc class.
Macleay District Motorcycle Club president Trent O’Donnell was impressed with the competitors efforts.
“It what was a very competitive weekend of wheel to wheel racing that resulted in three different winners from the three senior 450cc and above classes,” O’Donnell said.
“The Macleay was well represented and our competitors all did a great job.”
The Macleay District Motorcycle Club’s next event is round four of the club championship on August 12.
The club is also looking forward to the 28th Annual Akubra Classic to be held at The Greenhill speedway on August 25 and 26.
Plenty of local riders will be competing at both events.
