Thelma Scott reports – we had the semi-final of the Fours Championship on Wednesday with Barbara McBride, Elwyn Ainsworth, Carol Turner and Donna Soyka defeating Kaye Wood, Joan Hosking, Gail Griffiths and Janet Poletti in a close game 19/14.
We also had a Social Consistency game between Audrey Tillbrook and Fiona Medley. Winners on the day were Gail Griffiths, Joan Hosking and Barbara McBride.
Congratulations to Janet Poletti on being selected for Inter District to be played in September.
Also we would like to wish our men’s No.6 team best wishes in their play-off at South West Rocks this Saturday against Sawtell. All supporters welcome.
Macksville Men
Doug Smith reports – the Thursday jackpot bowls results were determined by the margin plus ends. Bill Witt, Keith McDonald and Malcolm Duffy were the winners with a massive 47 points from Wayne Ross, Tony Pickvance and Brian McPherson with 18 points. The jackpot is still intact, there is $382 that could be won today.
Saturday mixed social bowls winners were Barbara McBride, Wayne Ross, Elwyn Ainsworth and Keith McDonald from Bill Witt, Brian Nunn, Geoff Haddol and Carol Turner.
The final round of the pennants was played on Saturday and Macksville finished with both grades winning. Grade 6 played Port Panthers at Port Macquarie winning the aggregate 61 to 53 and the points 9 to 1. Grade 6 finished on top of their division, 10 points in front of second place South West Rocks. On Sunday the post-sectional play of was held at Kempsey RSL Bowling Club with Macksville playing Comboyne (division 1 winners) with Macksville taking the aggregate 88 to 42. Macksville will now play Sawtell (division 3 winners) on Saturday at South West Rocks starting at 12.30pm with the winner representing Zone 14 in the State finals.
Grade 7 played Park Beach at Macksville, winning the aggregate 71 to 47 and the points 10 to 0. This meant that grade 7 finished fourth, only 11.5 points behind the winners Coffs CEX. This was a much better result than in previous years so well done to them.
The draw for the triples is on the board arrange your before the play or forfeit date.
Nambucca Heads Women
Pat Smith reports – Moira Blair is our Minor Singles winner for 2018. Moira defeated Margaret Lawrence 25 shots to 12 in a game where Moira led all the way. Moira is a worthy winner as she won all her games convincingly. Congratulations, well done.
Results of Tuesday’s Social – winners J Haig, C Nouws, P James and Pat Fletcher. Runners-up Rita Foley, Val Miles, Moira Blair and Bryony Brownlie.
Scotts Head Men
Gary Bishop reports – on the weekend we hosted Stuarts Point in the final round of the pennants. Stuarts Point had a comfortable win - congratulations. This placed them equal first on the ladder at time of writing.
The next Over 50s day is at Macksville on Monday August 6 – names in by the Friday prior. Rink winners for Wednesday July 11 were A Low, J McAuliffe and B Goodbolt while the consolation prizes went to B Ward and T Perry.

Bowraville
Julee Townsend reports – in form Kevin Wilson was the winner despite braving the frosted green at his 7.30am tee off! His score of 40 bettered Greg Patterson’s 37. Other results: Front 9 N Mackay, Back 9 D Hooper, nearest to the pin 2nd/11th G Paterson, longest putt 4th/13th K Wilson, 7th/16th K Wilson. Balls: G Johnstone, M Oldman, GB Brookes and W Van Sambeek.
Vale Wolfgang Echert, who passed away last week. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm and help on the golf course.
Nambucca Heads Women
Jen Forne reports – 30 starters competed for our Monthly Medal and a place in the CNC District Medal play-off at Port Macquarie.
Robin Jones excelled in the near perfect golfing conditions with a fabulous 65 nett, winning overall and C Grade Monthly Medal with Dianne Hopkins C Grade runner-up. A Grade was won by Gillian Anderson with nett 74, runner-up Jennifer Thorne 76. B Grade winner was Debra Gersbach with 75 nett with Heather Gray runner-up on a countback.
Gross winners - A Grade was Gillian Anderson 90, B Grade Deb Gersbach 104 and C Grade Robyn Jones 101. Nearest the pins on 5th were Angela Paton B Grade and Di Hopkins C Grade. The pizza on the 13th was won by Robyn Jones and the pro pin on the 18th Dorothy Bunyan. Good luck at Port Macquarie on Monday to Gillian, Heather and Robyn our CNC qualifiers.
Next week is a two person ambrose with a 9am shotgun start.
