However, the 93-year-old continues to dedicate her spare time to crocheting and donating the finished items to charity.
Since Elma joined the ‘Wrap With Love’ (WWL) group in 2003, she has crocheted 228 wraps and recently received an appreciation certificate from the WWL.
Elma is also involved with the Library Knitters Group and they crochet and knit for Country Women's Association stalls at South West Rocks.
Elma has made bedspreads, tea towels, slippers and lace coat hangers.
“Elma, is a quiet achiever and one of Kempsey’s treasures,” co-ordinator of WWL Kempsey Library Knitters June Morley said.
“Congratulations on your hard work. Your appreciation certificate confirms that WWL, along with your friends from the Library Knitters Group, acknowledges you.”
