Melville High School’s fairytale run in the statewide rugby league competition is set to continue this Friday when the Open side faces off with Terrigal High School in the quarterfinals at Verge St Oval at 1pm.

In a remarkable feat, Melville High School’s Under-14s side has also advanced to the quarterfinals with their match to be scheduled in the near future.
The Open side’s road to the NSW quarterfinals has been impressive as they have bested sides from across the North Coast, Hunter Region and Sydney.
The Open’s defeated Port Hacking High School 22-12 in the round of 16 last month.
Melville’s kicking game was the difference as they continually forced Port Hacking to work the ball out from their own end.
Halfback Shaydon Close was instrumental in the victory and received man of the match honours.
Melville High School are currently two wins away from having a side battle for the prestigious honour of being crowned best rugby league side in the state.
