In B grade, the Brewers took an 8-6 lead into the final inning, only to see Sawtell push three runs across the plate to edge ahead, 9-8, then fail to score. David Jeremy, Kris McGrane and Cam Rutherford each had a hit, a walk and two runs scored, and Mick Nelson drove in three runs and scored once for Bellingen.
In A grade, the Dodgers jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings. The Brewers held them scoreless the rest of the way, but could add only one more run themselves and went down to defeat, 7-2. Dave Wolfson had a hit, a walk and scored twice for Bellingen, driven in on both occasions by Hunter Bake-Smith.
The Brewers also fell short, 16-13, in their junior encounter with the Allstars. Rutherford starred with the bat for Bellingen with five runs batted in.
There were several noteworthy debuts on the day for the Brewers. In juniors, Brian Wattle and Luke Mitchell each made their first pitching appearance of the season. In B grade, Rutherford was inserted in the line-up for the first time at catcher and played impressively.
On the sidelines, Cooper Bake-Smith in juniors, and older brother Hunter in B grade, each assumed the coaching duties for the day and were outstanding.
